BIOTECHNOLOGY The biotechnology industry is here to stay. Lebensmittel Consulting has been involved in Biotechnology research and development for many years. We specialize in applications relating to biomaterials, food, postharvest extension and similar uses for biotechnology. If you need help to characterize a product, develop a biotech product or even transfer a trait to bacteria, plants or other systems, we may be able to help you. We have had government grants in this area as well as working directly with the biotechnology industry. Dr. Basel is active in the IFT Biotechnology Division and an advocate for responsible application of biotechnology in the food and materials areas.Some of the past areas of intensive research for the government has been in the areas of spider silk, calcium and other metal binding proteins, hydroxyapatite nucleating peptides, nanomaterials, photosynthesis enhancement, and functional food ingredients from biotechnology. |
